Ting-An Ho’s Latest Exhibition Identity Revives Early Internet Age Nostalgia To See What Happens When Fonts Go Wrong

The dancing glyphs and glitchy atmospheres of Ting-An Ho’s identity for ‘Oops! the fonts went wrong’, a typeface exhibition held at Taiwan Design Museum in Taipei earlier this year, are decidedly jarring. As the exhibition itself demands, the identity confronts viewers with what happens when a font goes ‘wrong,’ as well as how much we can take fonts for granted day-to-day. Going to the extent of developing an entire back story for the identity, Ting-An’s design creates a world where viewers can encounter the messiness of language gone mad; shaped from a mishmash of millennial early internet age nostalgia, and a fictional world of fonts.

Responsive Logos: Design for the Digital World

With numerous communication options and devices available nowadays, logo design, the visual cornerstone of a brand's identity, adheres to this trend and becomes more and more responsive. Some brands redesign their logos using the up-to-date design languages and methodologies, for example, flat design. And some brands optimize their logos for today's multiple devices and screen resolutions, with quite a few variants of the same logo used for different purposes. Steps of reducing details, rearranging spaces, or combination can be involved during the design process.
